The MTCS community welcomed a new third grade teacher, Soham Sengupta, to Banaadir North. After working with Teach for America for two years, Mr. Sengupta was recently awarded a trip to an all-expense paid conference in New York from Leadership for Educational Equity, a nonprofit, nonpartisan, leadership development organization.

The AAPI (Asian American & Pacific Islander) Diversity in Public Leadership Summit was a two-day, national leadership opportunity for educators. Founded to support AAPI educators in dismantling systems of inequity and oppression, participants examined power and privilege through a lens of diverse teachers.

“This seminar was a perfect fit for me,” expressed Mr. Sengupta. “It allowed me to really develop my skills in teaching as well as learn more about school systems, and the role I play in them. My identity as an Asian American, and having the opportunity to network with other Asian American leaders and educators, enhanced the whole experience.”

Mr. Sengupta is an enthusiastic and committed teacher and the MTCS community is happy to have him on board.
