Welcome to the 2014/15 School Year!
The Administrators at Minnesota Transitions Middle School want to introduce ourselves. My name is Troy Willemssen, I will be the new Middle School Program Director. For the last four years, I have been an administrator and assumed many different roles at MTS High School. I spent the first two years instituting a new discipline policy along with helping create a new school culture. The last two years, I have been the Director of the Colin Powell Leadership Academy. Much of my day was spent troubleshooting parental concerns, grad counseling, student scheduling, and marketing. I am very excited to have the opportunity to meet and work alongside each of you!
My name is Brian Zimmer and I am the new Dean of Students here at the middle school. I have a bachelor’s degree in social studies from Bethel University. This past spring I finished my Master’s Degree in Special Education. I also hold a K-12 license working with students with learning disabilities. For the past two years I worked at Lionsgate Academy. I started first as an educational assistant, and then the math inclusion teacher. When I am not working with students, I like to spend time traveling, hanging with friends, fishing, and enjoying outdoor fun. I am excited for the upcoming school year to work alongside all of you!
We would like to invite our parents, guardians, & students to our first MTS Family Night! This event will be Tuesday, September 9th from 4pm – 6pm. Brian and I will be here to meet and greet all parents/guardians. To show our gratitude, we will have food and drinks available for all families.
