Today, MTCS had the honor of hosting two medal of honor recipients; Bennie Adkins and Robert Patterson.

This is one of 12 school assemblies that are to take place in Minneapolis as part pf the Medal of Honor Convention the year.

Have you ever heard of a Medal of Honor? If not, let me start by telling you what it is. A Medal of Honor is the highest medal personnel can receive in the military. It is awarded for bravery in combat at the risk of their life and for personal valor in going above and beyond for call of duty. Over 3,515 Medals of Honor have been awarded, but over half of the recipients are now deceased. Medal of Honor recipients are considered national heroes of the United States.

The Medal of Honor organization provides a free curriculum to schools which centers on teaching the values that Medal of Honor recipients embody and endeavor to share: Courage, Commitment, Integrity, Citizenship, Sacrifice, and Patriotism. JROTC students have been learning about the MOH Values on Fridays by watching vignettes, recorded first person histories, and completing classroom activities.
