MTS Trades & Industry Career Academy

The Trades & Industry Career Academy is a great program for students with a positive attitude, good attendance, and a desire to learn. Through the program, students learn the core skills needed for the precision manufacturing industry, and are even given hands-on experience through an internship with a local manufacturing company.

Introductory courses include Manufacturing, Engineering Graphics (Computer-aided Design), and Technology Systems.

Manufacturing assists students understanding of concepts and skills involved in the precision manufacturing industry. Course content includes safety, industry math, measuring, interpreting drawings and blueprints, hand tools and an introduction to NC/CNC equipment. Engineering Graphics uses Computer-aided Design assists students in developing the drawing techniques necessary for drafting, design and other related occupations. Technology Systems explores applications of technology in areas including Construction, Manufacturing, and Communication.

Enrollment Guidelines:

  • Current Enrollment at MTS or MNIC
  • Continual progress made for graduation
  • 17 to 20 yrs of age during academic term
  • Attendance
  • Interest in learning job skills for careers in Manufacturing
  • English language skills to communicate with team members a plus
