Support one anotherSupport is a constant theme at P.E.A.S.E. Academy, and it’s not confined to the classroom. September was National Recovery Month, a time to celebrate the gains made by those in recovery.

The school year began with returning students welcoming new students, and it didn’t take long before seeing each other as family and the school a place of support. As much as P.E.A.S.E. is serious about recovery, they are also serious about academics. Students are expected to produce in the classroom at a high level, leaving many surprised by the rigor and grateful for the support.

On September 28th, students went to Apex Recovery School in Rochester to meet students from four out of the six Minnesota recovery schools. They could see they were not alone, but rather they are a part of a larger network supporting those living a life of sobriety and recovery.

On October 25th, they are joined students from INSIGHT Program, White Bear Lake, to visit the Collegiate Recovery Community of St. Cloud State. Fourteen students, mainly seniors, visited the first residential recovery community offered at a public university in the upper Midwest.

The community shared its support for each other at the fall harvest celebration on Tuesday, October 31st. In the words of author, Karen Salmansohn, “Choose to focus your time, energy and conversation around people who inspire you, support you and help you grow you into your happiest, strongest, wisest self.” That’s sounds like P.E.A.S.E. Academy.
