Vision

Our vision is one in which each staff member of our school welcomes students no matter what differences they may possess into an environment that is safe, caring, and conducive to learning. Providing programs and opportunities that enable students to:

  • develop positive self-esteem and interpersonal relationships
  • continue building academic competencies and critical thinking skills;
  • practice problem solving and decision making;
  • explore their aptitudes, interests, and creative abilities;
  • develop a sense of responsibility to themselves, their home, and their community

Banaadir AcademyMission

The mission of Banaadir Academy is to enable each student to become a responsible, competent, and prepared life-long learner as well as a conscientious citizen. Our ELL Program provides instruction for academic and linguistic competence. Such competence will enable students to achieve on the same basis as native speakers of English and to participate successfully in the mainstream of American society.

Goals for student achievement include:

  1. Standards of behavior that promote academic success and good citizenship.
  2. Attain academic proficiency in the five domains: reading, writing, speaking, listening, and comprehension.
  3. Achieve academic parity with non-ELL peers.
  4. Communication that facilitates developmental growth and accountability.
  5. Classroom expectations that foster respect and appreciation for individuals and cultures.
  6. Expand the use of technology as a learning tool for students.
  7. Develop and refine intervention and Character Education programs.
  8. Augment student achievement in core subjects and statewide testing.
  9. 80% of our students will advance 1 proficiency level or more based on LAS scores.
  10. 10% of our ELL students will exit the program during the current school year.

PARENT AND COMMUNITY GOALS

  1. Provide opportunities for parent involvement and increased participation in school events.
  2. Provide community liaisons for the district and building Liaisons to foster effective communication between ELL families and district staff members.
  3. Unite and collaborate with local social agencies to meet the academic, cultural and social needs of our ELL family community.
  4. Connect with organizations, which provide special services to unique cultures represented in our ELL family community.
