MTS Trades & Industry Academy teaches the basic skills of residential repair, rehabilitation, maintenance and remodeling. Basic course work is hands-on and teaches skills useful in everyday life and in developing careers, while also giving you the high school credits you need to graduate.
You can see the work of this Academy throughout the school – shelves, painting, repairs and many other projects that help students practice what they are learning.
Study areas include:
- learning construction math
- using hand and power tools,
- building with wood and wood finishing
- room constructing and finishing processes
- blueprint reading
- functional building systems, like plumbing and heating
And if you’re looking to put these skills into real community work experience, you’ll want to check out the many ways you can do that with MTS partners: TreeTrust, Renew and YouthBuild, and the Bricklayers.
We would love to show you around the program and share all your options, call 612-724-4754
