<\/p>\nWhat better way to start a school day than with staff and students sharing their musical talents from the beautiful, sunny atrium right in the middle of MTS Secondary and Banaadir Math & Science \u00a0schools?\u00a0 That\u2019s exactly what happened recently, at Minnesota Transitions Charter School\u2019s main building, and will again in May.<\/p>\n
MTS Secondary music teacher, Alison Rainey, organized an informal music club, along with the music classes she offers at the school.\u00a0\u00a0 Many students joined the music club and practice after school to prepare for the caf\u00e9 performance where they perform for their peers and staff.\u00a0 In fact, the event has gotten so popular, staff members have asked to participate as well.<\/p>\n
\u201cThere is so much talent in this building!\u201d\u00a0 Alison Rainey said.\u00a0 Solos, ensembles, and bands played during breakfast, and before classes started, with guitar, keyboard, jazz, rock, and heartfelt singing\u2014beautiful music slid down the hallways throughout the school.<\/p>\n
This kind of expression is at the heart of what MTCS is all about\u2014giving students an outlet for their talents and passions, and their voices, while staff and peers comes together to support and encourage.<\/p>\n
Near the end of the last Music Caf\u00e9, the Powel Leadership Academy JROTC cadets began their practice in the gym just behind the performance area.\u00a0 The organized marching, the music, MTS Secondary students and Banaadir Math & Science students heading off to class\u2014really highlighted the unique community and opportunities MTCS offers its students.<\/p>\n
MTCS is a place where you can get the encouragement and support you need to really soar.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe all have talent inside of us.\u00a0 Be kind to yourself and each other,\u201d said a teacher who performed last and dismissed the crowd.<\/p>\n
