Juneteenth, also known as Freedom Day, is an important commemoration of a day in 1865 when the last group of slaves, in Texas, learned that they had been freed from slavery weeks earlier. It is more important than ever to honor this day, and also to acknowledge all the work that still needs to be done to make a more equitable world.

In past years, MTCS was honored to participate in the Juneteenth event in North Minneapolis. Because of the Coronavirus, this is not happening this year, but we are celebrating this important day in our communities all around our city.

All are welcome at MTCS schools—we celebrate diversity, we work for equity. Today we are proud to stand together at this important time and plan for a better future for all people.
