A student produced Question and Answer session by Raven Shambley, Grade 11, MTS High School<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n

Tell me about yourself.<\/strong><\/p>\n

I have been in the district for nine years. I taught at the middle school for five, and I have been at the high school for the last four years. My brother is a police officer and my little sister is also a teacher. I went to college in Iowa and I love shopping. <\/em><\/p>\n

Why are you an educator?<\/strong><\/p>\n

I love the endless possibilities and challenges that every day brings and I also love helping students\u2019 struggle to success. <\/em><\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

What kind of student were you? Honestly.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Ha! I was a good student. I was very quiet. I would say that I was your average\/typical student but I was a part of my school\u2019s newspaper. <\/em><\/p>\n

What do you like about MTS? What do you not like about MTS?<\/strong><\/p>\n

Every day at MTS is a new day. I like the ability to work one-on-one with students. I like that we can reach students who struggle and that we can meet students where they\u2019re at. <\/em><\/p>\n

What are some of your Pet Peeves as an educator?<\/strong><\/p>\n

Apathy, ignorance, and excuses.<\/em><\/p>\n

What\u2019s one tip that you have for this year\u2019s graduating class?<\/strong><\/p>\n

My advice for this year\u2019s graduating class is to just do it and take life seriously. We\u2019ve prepared you for school, so now you\u2019re off to the real world to fend for yourselves. <\/em><\/p>\n

If you could go back to high school and do it all over again, what would you do differently?<\/strong><\/p>\n

I would study harder and get more involved in school than I did. <\/em><\/p>\n

If you could have any job\/career other than being an educator, what would it be and why?<\/strong><\/p>\n

I would like to be a writer who owns a coffee shop or someone who travels and does photography. <\/em><\/p>\n

How do you feel about the future of education?<\/strong><\/p>\n

I am nervous about the future of education. I see many good things happening all around, but I foresee a few struggles with the implementation. <\/em><\/p>\n
