He also ordered that schools begin their Distance Learning school programs on Monday, March 30 and continue through April 30th.<\/p>\n<p>The Governors\u2019 decisions are in support of keeping us all safe and healthy while continuing to support student learning.<\/p>\n<p>MTCS is prepared and ready for distance learning to start on Monday, March 30th. Every student has a device for learning and all staff will be available from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM to work with students and families. If students are in need of a device and\/or access to the internet, please <a href=\"https:\/\/mtcs.org\/contact\/\">contact us<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>We know these are challenging times with significant impact upon our entire MTCS community. As we continue to work through such times together, know that staff and families continue to demonstrate collaboration, compassion, and unity as we navigate the disruption experienced by all. Life can present many challenges and COVID-19 is making such challenges even more difficult. Know that MTCS social workers are here to support all students and families by helping to provide access to resources and navigating diverse challenges (<a href=\"https:\/\/mtcs.org\/contact\/\">click here<\/a>). Check out our resource area on the MTCS website and know that we will continue to update this as further information\/resources become available.<\/p>\n<p>If you are an emergency worker and need childcare per the Governors\u2019 Executive Order <a href=\"https:\/\/education.mn.gov\/MDE\/dse\/health\/covid19\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">https:\/\/education.mn.gov\/MDE\/dse\/health\/covid19\/<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/education.mn.gov\/mdeprod\/idcplg?IdcService=GET_FILE&amp;dDocName=MDE032187&amp;RevisionSelectionMethod=latestReleased&amp;Rendition=primary\">School-age Care for Children of Critical Workers &#8211; State List<\/a> &#8211; 3\/25\/20, <a href=\"https:\/\/mtcs.org\/contact\/\">please reach out to us<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><b>If you are in need of meals, MTCS currently offers two meal pick up locations available from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM:<\/b><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>-MTS Secondary 2872 26th Ave. S.<\/li>\n<li>-Banaadir Academy (North) 1201 Bryant Ave. N.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>For the purpose of ordering meals, please fill out the Student Lunch Request Form found at mtcs.org to let us know you will be picking up lunches.<\/p>\n<p>MTCS is committed to the health and safety of our students, families and staff. We have reduced the number of people, in any of our buildings at one time, to less than ten. Additionally, many staff are now working remotely to stay home as much as possible. We encourage all to practice social distancing, cover coughs and\/or sneezes with a tissue and to frequently wash hands for at least 20 seconds with soap and water and follow all recommendations per the CDC and noted via the following link: <\/p>\n<p>At this point, what we know is that distance learning will take place from Monday, March 30th through Thursday, April 30th. As with us all, MTCS will wait for further information from the State of MInnesota prior to communicating what will take place after April 30th. Please note that the teachers and curriculum will continue, only the way we are doing school is changing.<\/p>\n<p><b>Technology and internet access:<\/b> MTCS provided devices to all students who need them, grades K-12. Please let us know if you are having any issues with either your device or internet service &#8211; <a href=\"https:\/\/mtcs.org\/contact\/\">click here<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><b>District emergency care: <\/b>MTCS offers child care for Tier 1 emergency workers, please let us know if you are a Tier 1 emergency worker &#8211; <a href=\"https:\/\/mtcs.org\/contact\/\">click here<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><b>Activities, events and facility rentals: <\/b>All school activities and events are canceled until at least May 4.<\/p>\n<p><b>How can you help?<\/b><\/p>\n<p>Please continue to practice healthy habits to limit the spread of disease:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Stay at home as much as possible.<\/li>\n<li>Wash hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds. If you cannot wash your hands, use alcohol-based hand sanitizer with a minimum of 60% alcohol content.<\/li>\n<li>Cover coughs and sneezes with a tissue, or cough into the inside of the elbow. Dispose of tissues immediately.
