Dear Parents\/Guardians of P.E.A.S.E. Academy Students,<\/p>\n

Summer is winding down and it\u2019s again time to think about getting ready for the start of school, which this year is Tuesday, September 3rd at 8:30 a.m<\/u><\/strong>.<\/u>\u00a0 Hopefully, your student is still planning to stay enrolled at P.E.A.S.E. Academy and has maintained their sobriety throughout the summer.\u00a0 If your student is not<\/strong> planning to return to us in the fall, please call and let us know as soon as possible<\/strong> so we can plan accordingly.\u00a0 We also need to hear if there has been a change in your student\u2019s recovery date<\/strong>.\u00a0 A change does not necessarily mean that they cannot return to us this fall; we just need to have a conversation in order to determine whether or not they are stable in their recovery to insure the safety of all our students.<\/p>\n

In this mailing you will find several items.\u00a0 The purple sheet has P.E.A.S.E. Academy\u2019s school year calendar<\/strong> on one side and a flier announcing our Parents of PEASE (POP) Support Group<\/strong>.\u00a0 POP is wonderful way to meet other parents with children in recovery and learn from our school\u2019s CD Counselor. We hope to see you on the 1st Thursday of most months.\u00a0 The green sheet is this year\u2019s student school supply list<\/strong>.\u00a0 Please make sure your child has the necessary supplies.\u00a0 If there are any problems securing any of the items, please let us know and we can make the necessary arrangements.\u00a0 We are also including three forms that need to be filled out and returned with your student on the first day of school<\/strong>.\u00a0 These include: the school lunch form <\/strong>(Application for Educational Benefits<\/em>), the 2019-20 Student Health <\/strong>Form, and a release of information form<\/strong>. Your child\u2019s advisor will be calling to create a class schedule.<\/p>\n

I\u2019d also like to reiterate that all students must attend our Friday Community Service Learning Workshop from 12-2:00 at PEASE Academy<\/u>.\u00a0 <\/strong>Too many of our students in past years saw our Community Service requirement as optional.\u00a0 It is not optional, and they will be required to be at school every Friday afternoon.\u00a0 Our hope is that the students find a community organization to volunteer with for 2 hours every week.\u00a0 If they establish this commitment, clear it with our Community Service Coordinator, and <\/em>turn in their hours, they do not have to attend on Friday afternoon.\u00a0 Otherwise, they will be with us until 2:00 on Fridays working on community service projects here at the school. To help with this endeavor, we are excited to be continuing our partnership with Americorps\u2019 program known as Recovery Corps.<\/p>\n

Again, if your child is not going to be returning to P.E.A.S.E., or there has been a change in his\/her sobriety date, please let the school know as soon as possible.<\/strong><\/p>\n
