Mr. John’s science class has been learning about plants. Every Wednesday, they do a dissection of a different animal organ. A dissection is when scientists carefully cut up a plant or animal organ and look closely at what is inside. Some of the students shared about what they thought of the experience!

A student begins the dissection by cutting open a frog using scissors.

Badran: I don’t have a favorite dissection. They are all disgusting. The dissection I kind of liked was the frog. The kidney was okay!

Idman: My favorite dissection is the kidney and the brain. I did two of them and it was fun. I hope to do some dissection. We also did the eye and spinal cord. I like dissections.

Ugbad: I liked the cow eye. It was really cool seeing all of the parts of it, such as the iris and the pupil.

Abshir: The dissections were fun. I learned a lot. It was a great chance to learn. Today I am going to dissect a grass frog. Wish me luck!

Aliya: I don’t have a favorite dissection. I think all of them were absolutely awesome.

Ayan: My favorite dissection is the spinal cord when we got to watch a movie. The movie (Osmosis Jones) was fun. It was about a girl and her dad. Her dad works in the zoo and cleans the animal houses and gives them food. He gets stuck there and there is an evil cell inside.

Lul: My favorite dissection was the sheep brain. I also liked the frog and the kidney. I enjoyed all of them!
