MTCS is thrilled to announce that P.E.A.S.E. Academy Director, Michael Durchslag has been named Chair of the Association of Recovery Schools, a national organization whose mission is to support and inspire recovery high schools for optimum performance, empowering hope and access to every student in recovery.

As the director of P.E.A.S.E., Michael is a passionate expert on youth and recovery. He is committed to finding and creating ways to provide more resources and awareness to the issue of youth substance use and misuse and supporting students on their journey to a healthy life where they can thrive.  He joined the Board of ARS in 2015 and was named Chair in 2023, with a voluntary three year term. Leading the ARS is another way Michael is making a very valuable contribution in supporting young people nationwide.

The ARS provides resources and accreditation to communities and schools as they work to create strong programs to support youth living with addiction and recovery. The organization connects recovery high schools with the tools and resources they need to support students. It also offers an online platform to connect schools to the recovery community. This is difficult work, and schools and communities working and learning together makes a big difference to success.

Michael is one of the foremost experts in the country on the issue of youth addiction and we are so thrilled for his continued positive impact and grateful for the dedication and commitment he provides to young people every day.

You can listen to Michael share his journey with P.E.A.S.E on our podcast.
