African American history and greatness is celebrated all year long at MTS Elementary, but February is a special month-long exploration of how black Americans have shaped our communities. One beautiful event during this month’s celebration is National African American Parent Involvement Day.

The event began in the gym. Author, Kristen Robinson, read her book It’s the Twins for Me! to the students and guests. Following the reading, each class had a special song or skit to perform.

At the end, special guest COFFE’ performed dance with the students and then had some students dance. It was a lively and beautiful affair and everyone had a great time.

Following the performances, students, staff and parents got together and enjoyed a special lunch that was brought in for the special day. MTS Elementary is such a strong community!
