I graduated in 2012 from P.E.A.S.E. Academy and began working in retail, skipping over formal education to get into the workforce. I had ups and downs, in’s and out’s of recovery during my journey to the present, but my time with P.E.A.S.E. taught me a lot about the world, my place in it, and how we need to prioritize our own mental health and well being before trying to fix other people’s problems. Put on your own mask before helping others, as they say in the airline business. I am now 31 years old, married to a beautiful woman, father to two fantastic kids, and have a fulfilling career as a private investigator for a firm based in Chicago. We now live in a home we purchased in 2023 in a great neighborhood and all of the life progress I have made would not have been possible without P.E.A.S.E. and the guidance I received while attending. I’m grateful to report that I am still not “normal” and I accept that I never will be. But I am happy, and that is the most important measure of success.
