Cultural Heritage Preservation Internship
This fast paced internship aims to introduce high school students (age 16+) to the many careers associated with Cultural Heritage Preservation. Most people are familiar with the memorial at George Floyd Square in Minneapolis, MN. Behind the scenes, two of the critical actions in keeping the offerings safe for future generation are the practices of archiving and preservation. Here each offering is inspected, cleaned, housed and described so that no offering is lost whether it be in the conservation lab, in an exhibition, in storage, or in transit. Interns will work with the offerings and protest art laid at the memorial of George Floyd, learn to clean, preserve, document and archive these creative expressions of hope and pain.
