Fun things were happening in Miss Shannon’s Banaadir Academy kindergarten class. After learning about farms and farm animals, and some of the products that come from different animals, the class decided they wanted to try their hand at making some things. How about butter?

Loaded up with a big jar of heavy whipping cream, which of course they knew came from the cow, the class got busy shaking that cream like crazy. As they shook (and shook!), they really enjoyed watching the cream change in consistency—getting thicker and thicker. When they finally had a ball of butter, they drained off the buttermilk, rinsed the butter and it was ready.

Then the class enjoyed a fabulous feast of their homemade butter with bread which they shared with the staff.

Learning can be fun and delicious!
