MTCS students and families,

Governor Walz extended the Stay at Home for distance learning in Minnesota to the end of the school year calendar. For MTCS the last day of the school year calendar is Thursday, June 4th. Also know that students will not have school on May 1st and May 4th as these will be planning days for staff.

The Governors’ decisions are in support of keeping us all safe and healthy while continuing to support student learning.

We know these are challenging times with significant impact upon our entire MTCS community. Through these past weeks, we have seen our students and families work so hard and do their best, despite very difficult circumstances. Please know that MTCS staff recognize that all students and families are doing the very best they can at this very moment. You have our support. As a school, we will help you and every student get the most out of this year and be as prepared as possible for the future.

Life can present many challenges and COVID-19 is making such challenges even more difficult. We offer you:

  • MTCS social workers to support all students and families by helping to provide access to resources and navigating challenges (click here);
  • Support with technology (click here);
  • Breakfast and lunch seven days a week for students;
  • Staff available to help make school work better and problem solve;
  • Resource area on our website (link) with information to keep you informed and connected, stories to inspire you, and community resources and a place where you can request food and other supplies.

Over the next several weeks, we will be in communication about the ways we will celebrate this school year, even from a distance, as well as plans for collecting technology, and/or returning personal belongings to students and more. Graduations and other school related celebrations/events are important. Though we will not be able to physically be together in the same place, we will create ways to share these moments together in celebration of our wonderful students.

We look forward to coming through this time stronger, prepared and even more connected. We are so grateful for you and all you are doing to care for yourself, your family and each other. If students are in need of a device and/or access to the internet, or any kind of support please contact us.

If you are an emergency worker and need childcare per the Governors’ Executive Order https://education.mn.gov/MDE/dse/health/covid19/ School-age Care for Children of Critical Workers – State List, please reach out to us.
