Great activities and experiences can happen when students have the benefit of a big school system, like Minnesota Transitions Charter School, while going to school in a small, personalized school like MTS Elementary. The school recently added wonderful extracurricular activities one day a week.

Students have the choice of one of the following activities:

  • Running Club
  • Sewing Club
  • Theatre Club
  • Art Club

There is something fun for all kinds of interests.

Transportation is often a barrier to a child being able to participate in after school activities, so MTS Elementary arranged for a bus ride home for any student interested in being part of the program—which is about three-quarters of the students.

Teachers lead the clubs and when you visit any of the groups, you will hear a lot of laughing (and don’t tell them that they might be learning something, too!) and it is a great way for students to interact with other students and teachers who aren’t part of their regular school day. This builds a great sense of community.

Earlier in the year, we asked parents what they really wanted to see for their students and access to more activities was at the top of the list and we are thrilled to be able to provide it.

“Look at my beautiful stitching!” One child showed off their colorful piece in sewing club.

MTCS is committed to providing opportunities and adventures to students so they can experience the world in new and different ways. If you are interested in learning more about MTS Elementary and its programs and options, you can reach us right here
