As one MTCS staff member shared, Hambalyo (congratulations), Mariam Mohamed, for writing important and entertaining books for children, and for the recent Fox story where she was featured. Not only does Mariam have 3 books published, one of her books, Ayeeyo’s Golden Rule, is set to debut on YouTube later this fall.
As a teacher at Banaadir Elementary, Ms. Mohamed inspires students on a daily basis. Her books allow her to reach even more children with empathetic stories. Her books feature young Muslim children, especially young girls, who are underrepresented in literature and mainstream media.
Along with more writing, Mohamed hopes there will be more films created in the YouTube series, so Muslim children can see themselves represented.
