There are no words to express the sorrow and grief we are experiencing at the death of George Floyd. On behalf of the MTCS community, our condolences go to Mr. Floyd’s family and friends and all who loved him.

We are deeply saddened by the recent events. Every day MTCS works to provide students with opportunities to fuel their dreams. The destruction of the MTCS district offices and MTS Secondary school last night is devastating.

We want each of you to know that we are here for you and committed to continuing to be here, for you. Although the answers remain unclear at this time, one way or another, school will continue in the fall.

Tragedies like this can feel impossible, but together we will rebuild our school and our community. We are more committed than ever to erase racism, inequities and disparities of all kinds. We are stronger together. Our collective actions as MTCS, as a community and as a nation, can and will make a difference.

Respectfully and for the safety of all, please stay away from the MTCS district offices and MTS Secondary. It is not safe and we value your life too much. Your life is precious and these are precarious times. The senseless loss of George Floyd has devastated us all and has evoked the embedded inequalities amongst us. Please stay safe and know that we can come together and rise above the pain and destruction we are confronted with. We will keep you informed of any developments, and please visit our website for updates and information at MTCS.org.
