Exciting opportunities can happen when students have the benefit of a big school system, like Minnesota Transitions Charter School, while going to school in a small, personalized school.  One of these opportunities happened this summer, a Boundary Water Canoe trip for students of MTS Secondary and Banaadir Academy.  Urban youth got to experience a real wilderness experience with caring staff and volunteers.

A few teachers and volunteers took this group of young women on a very exciting adventure this summer where they learned how to work hard, work together, take care of themselves and each other,  and have a lot of fun in the wilderness.  Young men also had canoe trip, but are not featured in this video.

MTCS is committed to providing exciting and adventurous opportunities to students.

One of the volunteers created this video that highlights some of the fun that was had this summer.  Lifetime experiences and memories were created—you can see it in their faces.

This is just one of the ways MTCS works with individual student needs and interests to not just educate students on state standards and core class work (which of course we do), but, well, to transform lives and offer opportunities to see the world in new ways.
