Minnesota Virtual Elementary students worked with visiting artist Shakun Maheshwari. to learn about Indian culture, history and celebrations through art. Students explored the use of sand and Rangoli designs (a temporary floor art that people create and redo on a daily basis in India in order to bring good luck and happiness to the home) and designed and colored their own mandalas.
This activity was made possible by the voters of Minnesota through a grant from the Minnesota State Arts Board, thanks to a legislative appropriation from the arts and cultural heritage fund.
