What a great start to our 2019-2020 school year. It is a joy to be able to keep you updated on the wonderful things happening at Banaadir Academy. This school year started off with two wonderful family events. In September, our parent education night was a huge success. It’s always great to have the opportunity to spread the message of the wonderful academic growth that we continue to see in our students daily. Also, our entire Banaadir staff enjoyed our Title 1 Family night. This night truly shows the community of parents and staff that we have at Banaadir Academy, which is very unique. The dedication of our parents and staff help improve the academic excellence that goes on in our building.
This year we also continue on our path to creating the best learning environment for our students. Our staff have integrated a number of aspects that will help your students grow and achieve. Our academic plan includes scope and sequences for reading and math, 1 to 1 laptops for all students, and half day Friday’s which gives way for staff professional development. With these initiatives in place, our standard for learning will reach an alltime high.
There are few exciting highlights that I want to share that involve the next few weeks. We will be having our all school assembly this Friday to recognize our Student of the Month winners. Also, following our MEA break our school store will be opening! This store will be used for those students that earn tickets through positive and responsible behavior. Our bus patrol program will begin as well following MEA break. Our goal is to have responsible and safe behavior to and from school on a daily basis. We will have student leaders that will be running our bus patrol program. Finally, our student council is in its initial stages and student elections are happening throughout the upper grade levels next week.
